Environmental protection without
compromising enjoyment

Environmental protection with
no restrictions on enjoyment

The packaging of Edle Tropfen in Nuss must meet a number of requirements to ensure that this premium product is optimally protected against damage during transport and storage. Our top priority is the consumer’s enjoyment: the packaging must guarantee that the delicate Edle Tropfen in Nuss arrives intact at the supermarket and in your home, and that it retains its excellent taste throughout its shelf life. This of course is also essential in order to avoid food waste. But environmental protection is of great importance to us too, as reflected in our motto “optimization—reduction—recyclability.”

Already achieved

For cardboard and paper, we have already completed our changeover to raw materials sourced from sustainable forestry, to protect our forests for future generations. However, we know that there is still a long way to go.

In progress: packaging optimization

Connoisseurs love the familiar, but they are also open to new things—which is why we are constantly looking to optimize our processes. We are currently working on the complex changeover from PET to polypropylene for the gold-colored inlay of Edle Tropfen in Nuss. PET is both stable and flexible, thus providing the best protection for the chocolates. This is particularly important in the case of Edle Tropfen in Nuss, as damage would cause the liquid brandy and liqueur centers to leak. Polypropylene, the alternative, is easier to recycle and is therefore considered more environmentally friendly, but it can be very challenging to process. We haven’t yet achieved our goal here.

In progress: reducing packaging weight

The packaging of Edle Tropfen in Nuss must be as light as possible, but sturdy enough to ensure the chocolates are well protected: lightweight packaging requires less energy during transport, which reduces carbon emissions and thus helps protect the climate. Therefore, we are also working to reduce the weight of our packaging.
